New for 2004

In 2003, the Optimist International Jr. Golf Championships changed their residence requirements. No longer must a player participate in their home district to qualify for the International. Therefore, we are now encouraging players to take part in the Mid-west District Tournament (formerly known as the Illinois District Tournament).

The Mid-West District of the OIJGC is also happy to announce the addition of two additional age groups that will allow us to serve the 10-11 and 12-13 year old golfers. Lincoln Trail G.C. has cordially invited us to play this tournament at their venue in Taylorville, IL. The dates of this tournament will run concurrently with the 14-15 and 16-18 year old tournament held at Piper Glen G.C. in Springfield.

The format will be exactly the same, with a practice round on Monday, followed by tournament rounds on Tuesday and Wednesday. The banquet and cook-out is available to all entrants, however, they will be held at Piper Glen on Monday and Tuesday evenings.

Lodging for out of town guests is available at the Super 8 Motel, which is located directly across the road from the golf course, or at the Market Street Inn (B&B) just off the square in downtown Taylorville. Reservations for either of these may be made by contacting them directly at:

Reservations for the Hampton Inn and Suites in Springfield will once again be made on the entry blank. Payment may be made by including the total in your entry check, or by charging to your personal credit card. Housing is the only cost that will be accepted on a credit card.
